The Switch Team is an extremely responsive performance freeride board which excels when loading, popping, landing and cruising. Even in the choppiest conditions this board is really fun and easy to set on rail. The Switch Team is playful for carving, benefitting from just the right amount of grip with the thinner rails, tuned flex, and outline. Transitioning through carves along the board’s rails is predictable and intuitive, while the uni-directional basalt I-beam structure offers improved stiffness between the feet and faster reflex for enhanced freestyle performance.

“This is a great board made even better. The limits that are imposed when developing the Switch sort of come off when you move to the Switch Team. If the Switch is a very constrained, very limited placement in design form, the Switch Team just pulls those constraints off. What can we do given less constraints? How can we make this board even better? It’s a credit to the actual Switch that the Switch Team isn’t very far removed in terms of overall spec, but what we’ve been able to do is make it look a little bit better, and by adding a basalt unidirectional I-beam between the feet, we’ve managed to stiffen it up a little bit more and definitely given a lot more reflex so you can load up and pop just that much more.

Specifically I’ve reduced the amount of fiberglass in the laminations just to take a little bit of weight out of the board. The basalt gives really good reflex so if you load up against this board you can really feel it snap back in place that much faster. It’s the Switch Premium. It’s the one that gives you just that little bit more.”

PAULOWNIA MULTIZONE BIOTECH CORE

The Airush Multi-zone Biotech Construction is a vertical paulownia wood core sandwich. This multilayer construction creates a consistent density from the natural material. Our wood cores are renowned for their response, durability and smoothness, and are combined with a versatile combination of laminates depending on each model’s requirement, for all-round performance and durability.

BASALT WEAVE

Designed to decrease weight and maximize efficiency for lighter riders, the basalt construction is layered with heel reinforcement to balance the strength to durability ratio.

 

SWITCH vs. SWITCH TEAM

The Switch is a Freeride model that is easy to ride, easy to control, and easy to get upwind on.

The Switch Team takes all the design features of the Switch and adds some higher performance elements for more demanding riders.

In particular Airush has added a Basalt Fiber Unidirectional I-Beam between the rider’s feet. This stiffens the board up as well as adding extra overall rocker. With a straighter outline than the Apex/Apex Team, the Switch Team is an excellent alternative in the range for flat water freestyle.
